Did it! How did you do?

The last 100 days of the year are gone…. almost 100 posts about personal growth and development.

I’m liking the man I am becoming, not the guy always focused on the money, but the guy focused on the journey. The irony is that the opportunity that is circling me is bigger and better than anything I have ever experienced. It feels right. The dots are not connected yet, but it feels right.

2011 is going to be the best year of my life, I hope you feel the same way.

How to Develop Success Habits – Day 92 of 100

I get the question of how to develop success habits all the time, here is how I do it.

1) I Identify the habit I want to create. For this example, I will use the example of being clean and organized.

2) I create a game around the habit. When I was single, I found that I kept my home very sloppy and unorganized. I created the game that if I keep my house clean, organized, and give it a “big clean” once per week, and I did this for 8 weeks straight, I will consider it a habit and never have to clean my house again, and for the rest of my life pay for someone to clean.

Knowing that after my eight week program, I would become a little more lax with my cleaning and organization, I set my goal VERY high for the first eight weeks. For example, I wouldn’t allow cans in my pantry to be out of place, literally, the label had to be facing out. I was that extreme with everything.

3) I created a system of accountability. For me, this was a simple checklist that I looked at weekly, for others, it could be an accountability with a friend or family member.

4) Get in action. For the record, I didn’t make it 8 weeks through. It took me 2-3 sessions to get through it, however, I did make it through!

I can tell you that creating this system of how to develop any success habit has been invaluable for me and has definitely gave me the pathway to major breakthroughs in my life.

The success habit of being cleaned and organized is so simple, yet it saves me so much time.

Networking – Day 54 of 100 – Personal Growth and Development

There is a game to networking that works every time…. Out give the person that is giving to you and you will always win.

When I first moved to Los Angeles in 1997, I thought that building a business was all about knocking on doors, and not worrying about the relationship.

When my business really exploded, was when I moved from knocking on doors to building relationships with referral partners. Instantly, my clients moved from being a client to a “friend of a friend,” which really changed things for me.

The question I used most was – “What profession refers you the most business?” I would ask this to everyone I met, my clients, and friends, and simply my friends to friends.

The results have been extraordinary… all because of my idea around networking by creating more value that receive.

How I Wasted $450,000 in 90 Days – Intelligent Risk Taking

My example about intelligent risk taking happened in 2007, my ego and pride was unmanageable and I truly thought that all my success was about me. My whole being believe that “everything I touched turned to gold.” When the mortgage market started to correct, I realized I needed to do something else. I looked at direct response marketing as a way to get more people to buy my book.

Most would start slow, do some radio, do some internet, not me. I ran out to the most complex part of the business, infomercials. We shot, produced, and it took me being on the air for months and months to realize that this was not the place for me to “learn to swim.” I’ve heard all the analogies that a person should “jump into the deep end” to learn to swim, but I never see anyone actually “learn to swim” by “jumping into the deep end!” Just like I didn’t. Yes, I did learn a lot, but I didn’t build myself a foundation. It wasn’t an intelligent form of risk taking.
That is why now, I’m much more methodical, much more organized, and much more focused on the risk taking I take.

I do always look for the good in every situation, and the good thing that came out of the last few years is my ego and arrogance is in check. I always tell myself to “Be the man I would want my daughter to marry.” Well, I am a much better man now, than I was two years ago.

Understanding Limitations – Day 86 of 100 – Personal Growth and Development

Understanding limitation is the reason why I focus more of my work energy on the “Wealth” side of my business as opposed to the “mortgage” side of my business.

Three years ago I looked at my income, the current state of the mortgage industry and asked myself, if I want to double my income, what would that mean? Due to the current state of the economy and the mortgage market, it meant at least double or triple the number of loans I would need to do. In reality, that was even too bullish looking back.

Then, I looked at helping people understand their credit, their debt, and their wealth – the same way I did it myself… and since, it was all product based and I didn’t need to meet everyone face to face, I could double or triple my income much easier.

I looked at my limitations, tried to understand them, and made a decision.

Well, made that decision but didn’t double or triple my income instantly. I grossly underestimated the learning curve associated with learning the information marketing world. That being said, it has been the best three years of my life. As a man I have grown so much, and am much happier as the person I am now, compared to the person I was three years ago. Back then, it was about me and my ego. Now, it’s about team and understanding that I’m merely the glue.

Not to mention all I have learned over the past few years…. it is setting me up for a win bigger than I have ever had before.

Want to go for a better ride? Look at your limitations, understand them, and move accordingly.

How to Exceed Expectations – Day 83 of 100 – Personal Growth and Development

What to know how to exceed expectations? Easy…. just think constantly about building extra value in a persons life. Why add extra value? When you do, life becomes easier…. things will just work out for you, it’s like adding oil to a wheel, it doesn’t take long and it makes it work so much better.

When I say “extra value” I mean doing things for the person that is not expected from you.

Here are ways that I have been exceeding expectations for those that are important in my life recently:
For my wife Lily – I asked myself what could start doing for her first thing in the morning that would start the day off showing her that I am thinking about her. We have a coffee machine and she makes herself a latte every morning. It doesn’t’ take long, however, making it for her would show her that I’m thinking about her. It worked. Even three weeks later, she is shocked every time I make her her morning latte. So simple, so powerful. Just a simple value add.

For my assistant Natalie – Last weekend she was driving from Colorado to San Francisco. I was up early checking email and she responded to one of them form her car. I asked her how her drive was, she said “horrible snow.” So, I went online, looked at the weather reports all the way to San Fran with different routes that could save her time. She ended up changer her route becuase of the weather reports. Then, I checked in with her the whole way there. I did this because I care and because I want to show her that I will take care of her as much as she does me.

As I said, exceeding expectations will make your life easier. Who in your life would make your life easier?

Do Manners Matter? Day 82 of 100 – Personal Growth and Development

Do manners really matter? Or is it just a form of “stuffiness” that was popular 50 years ago?

As Og Mandino states, “Manners and Etiquette is the honey that attracts the benefits of life.”

I would not have the amazing life I have, if it wasn’t for my manners and etiquette. I find the more respectful I am, the more thoughtful I am to other, the more it comes back to me in ways that always continue to amaze me.

My family knows that the number one worked in our house is “Respect.” That’s it. And, it has to do with everything we do. I constantly ask my kids:

- Are you being respectful to your food (when they play with it)
- Are you being respectful to your toys (when they don’t pick up after themselves)
- Are you being respectful to your brother/sister when they hit each other.

This is the one gift I can give me kids to make their life a little easier. People always say to me that “your life seems so easy,” or “your life is magical.” My response is that, “It is… because of the respect i give it.”

Weapons of Mass Destruction of my Credit Scoring Business– Day 75 of 100 – Personal Growth and Development

What is holding me back from MASSIVE growth with my credit scoring business? What is stopping me from the freedom that I will feel when hundreds of thousands of people have become experts in their credit score because of my products?

While some things are out of my control, for example, time in business, marketing knowledge, understanding of Internet testing, there are some things that are in my control, thus, the weapons of mass destruction.

1. I need to slow down. I run way too fast and because of that I make little mistakes or start projects that waste my time.
2. I need to be more organized and efficient. I recently started to mind map on a daily basis, and actually hired a mind mapping coach. It has really helped me become more organized and efficient.

At least I know this… the first step. Any ideas?

How Would You Instruct Your Children about Credit Scoring – Day 74 of 100 – Personal Growth and Development

How Would You Instruct Your Children about Credit Scoring? Today, Gary speaks about the “Parent Perspective,” which is that you should act the same way you would tell your children to act. As someone that speaks to people about their credit score everyday, sometimes I wonder how the people I’m speaking to would tell their children to act.

Here is what I mean. I believe a credit score is nothing more than a tool of life. For the most part, I do not believe it is a symbol of a persons integrity or character. We have all gone through tough times, and when that happens, sometimes the credit score goes down, not a persons integrity or character.

The Banks and Credit Bureaus would have you believe differently. When you miss payments, when your credit score goes down, you become a second class citizen, grossly overpaying, month after month, year after year, for your entire life.

For those of you that know you have credit scoring problems, what are you waiting for? Why the delay? If your children were in your position, what would you tell them?

I’m sure you would tell them to start now, take the time, follow the simple steps.

If you give me 15-20 minutes per day for 10-14 days, you would be done. Yes, done with your credit score.

Choose Your Suffering from a Credit Scoring Expert – Day 73 of 100 – Personal Growth and Development

From my perspective as a Credit Scoring Expert, choosing what to do will determine how you are going to suffer.

Most people do not focus on their credit score until it’s too late. I have heard it all:
- My credit score is ruined becuase of my bankruptcy
- My credit score will take 7 years to improve becuase of the foreclosure
- I can’t pay my bills, there is nothing I can do about my credit score

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.

If you choose to believe the above, you will suffer financially for years and years to come. SO I’M CLEAR – you will be overpaying, on average about $300 per month, every month, for the rest of your life. This is such a waste of money.

As a credit scoring expert, I invite you to consider the following:

If you invest 15-20 minutes per day, for 14 days, you will know all you need to know about how to improve, clean up, and play the credit scoring game.

See, if you don’t know the rules, the banks and will take advantage of you, month after month, year after year, until you learn the rules.

If you start now, you are 14 days away. Yes, “14 days of suffering” so that you can have a lifetime of freedom.

If you don’t start now, you will suffer, to the tune of $300 per month, month, after month, until you figure it out.

The choice is up to you. If you choose the former, sign up for my teleseminar this week: CLICK HERE TO ENROLL
