A confession …

2011 did not turn out the way I thought it would.

In fact, for part of the year, I was frustrated, irritated, and emotionally drained.

Let me give you an example….

I put my heart and soul into a program called “Never Be Stuck.” I was ECSTATIC about rolling this out.

We thought that we would have at least 200 people register.

23 people signed up …

11.5% of my goal.

That is not just an F … It’s an F-. If there were a worse grade, it would be a G.

Let’s see…

Here are a few other non-accomplishments …

1) I lost a few good friends who let me down.

2) My wife and I had more than our fair share of arguments.

3) My kids had some discipline issues that made me wonder whether I’m raising them the right way.

I’m telling you this for a couple of reasons …

First, I want to keep it real. Every year at this time, I take an honest assessment of my life and fully disclose where I am.

Second, I think that non-accomplishments are just as important as accomplishments. In the past, a lot of my failures have led to personal growth and development.

You see, I don’t believe that motivation comes for the hype.

I believe that motivation comes from hearing that other people are having problems too, and then seeing them work past their non-accomplishments and turn them into achievements.

As I look back on all the bad things that have happened in my life, I know that every time something bad happened, there was something that could be learned from it …

And when we learn from our failures or problems, we can turn the lemon into lemonade.

What if you turned your poor credit score into a gift?

What if your bankruptcy or foreclosure was a gift?

Let’s face it: You don’t want a better credit score. You want a better life.

So what if you could find a way to make your poor credit score the catalyst for a ton of growth and development?

Let’s figure out how to get there …

Thoughts?

Px

P.S. I will read every single comment, so post away!

“What the heck?”

That’s what I said to Tyler, a good friend of mine, who called me the other day after being turned down for a loan.

He explained that his score is in the low 600s.

“Why haven’t you taken the 14-Day Credit Challenge?” I asked him.

Tyler and I have known each other for almost 20 years. He knows all about my program, and I couldn’t believe he hadn’t taken advantage of it.

Tyler and I have one of those ultra-frank relationships, but I was kind of surprised to hear his reasoning …

“I just don’t have time,” he said.

This time I only thought it … What. The. Heck?

One of my favorite things about the 14-Day Credit Challenge is that it takes only about 10 or 20 minutes a week. You don’t have to read an entire book or study the credit laws.

All you have to do is spend 5 to 10 minutes a week watching a video tutorial, and then complete about 5 to 10 minutes of homework.

That’s it.

Seems simple to me.

But then Tyler called me out.

“Phil, I have a business that I’m trying to get off the ground. And I have a family to support … a family I only get to see in the evenings and on weekends, assuming I’m not working. There’s no way I have energy to take a course about credit repair.”

Okay, Tyler, point made.

The 14-Day Credit Challenge is pretty amazing, in part because of its simplicity. But it isn’t for everyone. Some people need just the facts—they don’t want to know any of the “what ifs,” nor do they want to know why the rules work.

“Cut to the chase and tell me what to do,” Tyler said to me.

So I laid it on the line for him and started with the number-one strategy he should take.

Want to know what I told him?

Submit your name below, and I’ll send you the answer.

Plus, I’ll send you information specifically for people who are too busy to go through the 14-Day Credit Challenge and want a Fast Track for getting their credit fixed … and fast!

I got a call from a client this week, we will call him “John.”

Here is his problem..

He has over $41,000 in credit card debt.

He has other unsecured loans totaling $12,000.

Although he hasn’t been late on his bills yet, he can’t seem to get caught up and doesn’t think he will ever dig himself out of this debt.

When he puts his debt into a debt reduction calculator, it says that it will take him 21.6 years to pay everything off at his current pace.

(Can you say …. STUCK?)

He emailed me and asked for my advice… I explained to him his three options:

Option #1 – Continue to pay the bills for 21.6 years.
Option #2 – File for Bankruptcy
Option #3 – Negotiate his debt with his creditors.

Let’s review…:

Option #1 – Continue to pay, which needs no explanation. This client did call the credit card company and got his interest rates lowered, however, by following their payment plan; he will be paying for 21.6 years.

That is like being held hostage by your credit card company for 21.6 years. I say “held hostage” because I believe that.

Yes, he took out the debt, but to pay on $41,000 in credit card debt for 21.6 years… is a crazy thought and in my opinion, other options need to be looked at.

Option #2 –Bankruptcy. If he qualifies for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, he will have no more debt, however, the bankruptcy will be on his credit report for 10 years.

He can easily repair his credit (to 720+) after the bankruptcy, which can be done in 1 ½ to 2 years.

There are two downsides to this option;

The bankruptcy on his credit report. That will impact his ability to borrow for the next 2-3 years.

Does he qualify for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy? Believe it or not, many people cannot qualify for a bankruptcy because their income is too high.

If this is the case, he will have to file a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. That means he will have to repay all his debt plus have a bankruptcy on his credit report.

Let’s move on to Option #3.

Option #3 – Renegotiate his credit card debt with the credit card company.

Here is what I know for sure:

Your credit card company will not negotiate with you unless you stop paying your bills. They may tell you differently, but this is what I know to be true.

Your credit card company will lie to you so you continue to pay. I’m sure this is not their “policy,” but when you combine eager employees looking to get their bonus with vulnerable debtor – this happens.

Once delinquent, they will put your phone number into an auto dialing systems. This means you will get up to 8 calls per day trying to collect payment. … Ouch!

If you understand how to negotiate with your credit card company (and I don’t), I hear from numerous clients that they will offer you a settlement somewhere between 15-40%. Meaning, if this gentleman did it right, he would pay off his credit card debt for between $7,950 – $21,200. You read that correctly, he would pay off $53,000 in debt for between $7,950 and $21,200.

After you pay off your debt, our clients are getting back to a 720+ credit score in approximately 18-24 months.

The biggest problem with Option #3, is having the stomach to handle the negotiations… because it is very stressful and daunting. And, if you don’t know the proper way to negotiate, you will pay more than you should.

If this sounds like your situation, listen up.

I’m going to put together free information designed for those that have more than $20,000 in debt and would like to know and understand all their options.

If you want to be informed about this information, give me your name and email below!

Once I do the interviews or webinars, I’ll email them to you.

I know this is a long email… thanks for reading!

If you have debt over $20,000 and this post seems to be written for you, submit your name and email below. I’ll provide you additional free information that I hope will help you choose the right option for yourself.

Did you hear that Facebook’s rival is in town? As I’m sure some of you know, Google released a new social media site called Google+.

If you haven’t received an invitation to join Google+, please let me know! The site is invite- only… and it’s amazing! Where Facebook lacks,
Google+ takes off.

For instance …

1) Google+ is fertile ground for you to build your business (or promote your job skills). It’s really easy to stand out because, unlike Facebook,
there aren’t bunches of people competing in the
same space.

2) The folks at Google+ are ultra-sensitive about privacy issues, so they don’t capture the same personal information that Facebook does.

3) It’s really, really easy to separate friends, family, and co-workers, which means you can share photos and personal information with friends and family
members, but not the guy who sits in the cubicle down the hall!

Like I said, if you want an invitation, let me know. I look forward to connecting!

Px

P.S. You’ll need a gmail account, which you can get at www.gmail.com. (It doesn’t cost anything.) Once you’ve established the gmail account, send me an
email at Philip@720creditscore.com and let me know that you want to be invited!

Can you help me find someone? I’m not sure what his or her name is, but I have a very clear description of this person…

You see, a good friend of mine was the mastermind behind the company 1-800-GOT-JUNK. I’m sure you have seen their trucks driving around. Brian Scudamore is such a great guy, awesome entrepreneur, and a man I look up to.

Over the past year, he has been on a search for someone to run his company… not just any person, the right person. Since I know that many of you are seasoned businessmen and woman, I thought I would send this to you. If this was a fit, it would be a game changed for both of you.

If you or someone you know is looking for an exciting new position, working with an awesome guy, and fast growing company… this might be your ticket.

Brian is looking for someone who fits this description:

“I am a high energy, results driven leader. People on my team know we play to win. When the goal is clear, I don’t let anything get in our way. I work hard to ensure my team is composed of top talent and that their teams each have the right people, in the right seats. I develop my people to be their best and to work hard to grow our business – to believe in and realize the possibilities we set. I thrive on having full responsibility for revenue and sales growth.

Sales and Marketing have been a core part of any business I have helped successfully build. I am passionate about building strategic plans that translate into results – plans that allow me to lead the charge with focused execution, tight accountability and frequent celebration.

I am looking to partner with an entrepreneur whose vision is crystal clear but one who needs an executional COO to help him figure out the HOW to his WHERE. I love Canada and have always wanted to call Vancouver home.”

A friend of mine, Terri Sjodin, recently sent me a review galley copy of her new book. Small Message, Big Impact: How to Put the Power of the Elevator Speech Effect to Work for You is coming out today.

I am often asked to review books, but this one caught my attention. Why? Because it is good. And it delivers on its promise… as the description states, it is an entertaining, straightforward, and practical how-to guide on effectively communicating an important message in a short period of time. And in today’s market, who doesn’t need a little help with messaging? She gives readers an inspiring new perspective on the power of what she calls the “elevator speech effect” and shows us how to employ this versatile tool to create influence. (She makes it easy!)

Perhaps you want to promote and idea, project or concept maybe you are looking to create a more compelling message to sell a product or service that will help you access challenging decision makers. Whatever your purpose—be it professional, academic, political, philanthropic, or personal you can learn to create a fresh brief and persuasive message that delivers tangible results. This book gives you a specific road map to draft your next elevator speech.

I strongly encourage each of you to take a moment to check it out and purchase a copy of her book today. You can get it in hardcover or ebook. You won’t regret it!

The Evelyn Sachs Steiner Home for Girls expected to raise $50,000. Instead, it raised $350,000.

How did they do it?

By adding a human touch.

Let me back up …

I recently met Brandon Steiner—the founder and CEO of Steiner Sports Memorabilia and the chairman of the Evelyn Sachs Steiner Home for Girls.

Well, when I received a mass email from Brandon (attempting to raise funds for the Girl’s home), I called him right away.

“Brandon, these emails aren’t effective. In fact, would you let me write your emails?”

Brandon was skeptical, but he agreed to give it a shot.

And he was blown away when they emails resulted in $350,000 worth of donations—a full $300,000 more than expected!

So why is a credit guy tooting his own horn about his philanthropic endeavors?

Well, I know a lot of you work for nonprofit organizations—or perhaps you sit on the board or volunteer. And I make it my mission to help people with money matters.

So I just wanted to give you a tip about raising money for nonprofits.

Create a story around your fundraising efforts. Humanize your fundraising efforts. Color the picture.

When writing fundraising email, the following things are a must:

The emails must come from a person and not an organization (e.g., Brandon Steiner and not the Evelyn Sachs Steiner Home for Girls).

The email must ask for only one thing per email. If people are confused about the “call to action,” they won’t take action.

Emails must tell an emotional story.

Emails should be text-only … no pretty pictures.

They must be personalized. Mass emails are a big “no-no.”

When this works for you, email me (or comment below) and let me know!
