Right before Christmas, I had a conversation with a client that had such an impact on me that literally, I cried like a baby.
The conversation had such an impact on me, that every time I tell a friend about it, I get choked up.
I’ll give you more details on that later….
This conversation was powerful for another reason. You see, I had an epiphany …
I realized that I’ve done you wrong. Let me explain …
A few days before Christmas, I got an email from a client named Misty, from Washington State. She didn’t feel that she got the information she needed from one of my seminars. When a client of mine is unhappy, I have to fix it right away. So I sent Misty an email telling her to call my cell phone as soon as she could.
Now, I do this all the time, and the reaction is always the same. No one believes that I’m giving my real cell phone number. They think it is some sort of con, and that I am never going to answer the phone … So they are blown away when I pick up the phone.
Misty was no exception. I could almost hear her jaw dropping when I said, “This is Philip.”
Misty explains that she felt betrayed because she frantically needed to learn how to get business credit, and get it fast. She said that if she did not get a business line of credit, she would have to close down her business.
WOW! I was shocked when she said that…. That is the last thing you want to use business credit for!
I told her that immediately, she cannot buy that product and she cannot buy any other product that we sell!!!
She thought I mis-spoke.
Then I repeated it, “Misty, you are going at this all wrong! You cannot buy anything until you get your business in order.”
Then I started telling her the steps that I want her to take to get her to increase her income, other than fixing her credit.
I started to explain, step by step what she needs to do to bring in more clients for her business and not go more into debt.
I was giving her all this homework when I didn’t hear her on the line, I said, “Misty…. You there?” It turned out she muted her phone because she was crying. I said to her, “what’s wrong?”
Then, she said the words than instantly made me cry like a baby……
